The Drawing Board

When we lived in Phoenix Arizona,
 we loved to go to a family art studio called The Drawing Board.
We decided to create our own art studio for our dolls*!
{We named it 'The Drawing Board' because we loved that studio!}

This summer we've been participating in Doll Diaries Summer Camp.
We had so much fun with the doodles created by Laura Kelly.
We decided to add them to our Drawing Board Art Studio.

Here is a close-up from some of our fabulous camp artists!
Looking to the Grand Opening of The Drawing Board studio this week!

I think Audrey is going to be so excited to sew this patriotic pillow.
She loves to sew! {And she especially loves red, white, and blue!}
Bring on July!

*We were inspired to make our own art studio after
seeing AG Doll Play's great studio!

Make Your Own Thread

We love to make friendship bracelets, so we have a lot of embroidery floss.
We bought some mini spools and decided to make 'thread' for our dolls.

We just wrapped the spools with embroidery floss
and used a low-heat glue gun to secure the floss.

Lots of little spools of thread in pretty colors.

Mini sewing kit will go in our fun new sewing cabinet.
Cheers to sewing projects!

Sewing in Red, White, and Blue

This past week Audrey did some sewing -- in red, white, and blue of course.
We are getting ready for the Fourth of July!

Today we had fun doing sparklers.
We'll be celebrating from today until the fourth.
{We're wearing our red, white and blue too!}

It was such fun doing sparklers in my new skirt!
{Thanks Audrey!}

I love it!

Enjoy your weekend and upcoming week!

Audrey also made this cute star skirt!
I can't wait to see everyone all dressed-up in their festive outfits next week!

Sewing Cabinet

 We found a fun wooden piece with glass doors at Hobby Lobby {40% off}.
We thought it would make a great sewing cabinet.
First we painted it Sky Blue, then we used some blue floral scrapbook paper
that looks like wallpaper to line the cabinet.
{Scrapbook paper by Crate Paper}

For less than $10 we have a great little piece of furniture!

Here it is all with all of our sewing supplies inside.
{Sewing set is from Our Generation.}

For now the cabinet is in our attic.

Cheers to more organizing!

Organizing Our Hats

Earlier this week we decided we needed to organize!
First we got a handle on our armoire, then it was on to the hats!
We made this first hat box from a small round craft box.

We figured out that we could get all of our hats in four boxes.
So we had an organizing party!
{I took a few photos to document our progress.}

Such a successful day of organizing --
{Actually it was our second day of organizing, so we are on a roll!}

Here we've got all of the hats put away!
Cheers to clean-up projects!

Hats in Hat Boxes

It was fun organizing all of the clothing.
But look at that messy pile of hats!

We decided to buy some fun craft boxes,
and we are currently altering them to look like hat boxes.
{We figure we can get all of our hats in 3-4 boxes.}

Here is a list of the basic supplies we used:
small round craft boxes
scrapbook paper and/or paint
Mod Podge & brush
pencil {for tracing lid, etc.}
scissors

Already things are looking a little more organized!
{I'll post a photo soon of all of the hats in their new hat boxes.}

Cheers to happy hats in their new happy boxes!

Organizing the Armoire

We made a purchase from Only Hangers -- miniature wooden hangers!
We bought regular hangers and pant hangers -- for skirts and pants.
We thought it would be nice to hang each outfits on one hanger.

Here is most of our dolls' wardrobe hanging up in the armoire.
We still need to add the doors and knobs, but they are currently being painted.
{And we were just too excited to wait!}

The wardrobe is a little narrower than our cubes.
But you can see how it sits on top of the house with room to open the doors.
The patio set is sitting on top of a cubical waiting for a railing.
{The railing is also being painted right now.}

Coats, sports, pjs, pants, shirts, dresses, historical outfits.
{I wish my closet looked this organized!}

Let Them Eat Cake!

The other day, we found these little ceramic cupcake stands for $2.99 each.
{We found them at Tuesday Morning.}
We used mini doilies to cover the cupcake designs, and turned a cupcake
stand into an AG cake stand!

We thought that some new cake stands would be a fun addition
to our AG Sweet Treats and Baking Table play.

We think they work perfectly!  Cheers to fun finds!

Pink Bench

In our home of 3 girls, we have collected 6 AG dolls
and 3 Bitty Babies over the course of 15 years.

We were so excited to find a bench that could seat 4 dolls at a time!
This one is from Hobby Lobby...
{We used a 40% off coupon which made it a reasonable purchase.}

Shoe Storage

We decided to use a jewelry organizer for our shoe, boot, and stocking storage.
{We found this one at T.J. Maxx for $5.99}

Attic

Here is a look at the attic.
Molly's bed is in the attic until her bedroom is complete.

Sage's art work will need to be done in the attic until
we get the craft/art studio set up.

Attic trunks, frames, and sewing supplies
all need to be sorted and organized soon.

Moving In

 {June 11, 2013 moving-in day}

At the beginning of the summer 2013,
we started an American Girl at Play adventure.

Tired of setting up fun play in a bedroom {only to have to put it away too soon}
we decided to convert an under-the-stairs closet into an American Girl play space.
The door can easily be closed and the mess concealed.
{Hooray for concealed messes!}
This is our adventure!

Our space is made out of:
 1 -- 24 by 48 inch box
1 -- 48 inch sloped-roof box
5 -- 24 by 24 inch boxes
1 -- 24 by 16 inch closet for clothing storage

We will be painting and creating in this space all summer.
We hope you'll enjoy visiting our blog as we share our adventure!
