Costume idea -- number 11, 12 & 13

Sometimes you want to dress-up and be festive,
but you don't want to wear a serious costume.

I have an orange polka dot shirt that I love to wear with an orange
sweater on Halloween.  Even though I'm not dressed up like a princess or ninja warrior,
I'm festive, and that counts!

The skeleton shirt was from a recent girls' trip we went on with our grandma.
We can always find great tights and accessories to add to our collection without
spending a lot of money.

These outfits were put together with a few older items, and a few newer items.
Shop your closet!
You may be surprised.
You probably already have things that would make a fun/festive Halloween outfit.

And last, but not least, here is our candy corn inspired outfit.
A Halloween surprise to complete our 13 costume ideas!

One of my favorite Halloween photos is of one of our little witches.
The photo just shows her stripped stockings and pointed witch shoes,
and I love it!

The above picture is our AG take on the same idea!

Cheers!
Happy Halloween!

Costume Ideas -- Number 7, 8, 9 & 10

Costume idea -- number 7
Belle would also be a great costume!
We found this costume a few years ago at a local
doll shoppe, and we've had so much fun with it.
A perfect choice for Halloween!

Costume idea -- number 8
A mermaid {or more specifically Ariel}!
This was another purchase from a few years back that
had gotten a lot of wear over the years.
I think Saige makes a great mermaid!

Costume idea -- number 9
An opera/theatre attendee.

This is an $8 dress from Hobby Lobby.
We used a 40% off coupon, so the dress/gloves ended up costing a little less than $5.

When we originally bought it,
we thought it would make the perfect 'Little Orphan Annie' dress.
But for Halloween, we decided to use the gloves and add sparkly red shoes.
Doesn't she look like she is headed to the opera or the theatre?

Costume idea -- number 10
Fifties girl
Wouldn't it be fun to dress up as a girl from the fifties?
Who does love a poodle skirt?
And really, you wouldn't even need a poodle skirt.
If you have a white shirt and a 3/4 length skirt, you are halfway there.
Just add a pair of white socks,
fun shoes, and maybe a cardigan [or a scarf tied around your doll's neck],
 and you'll be all set.

{The pink saddle back shoes are one of our favorite accessories.}

I can't believe tomorrow is Halloween!
Tomorrow we'll show you three costumes that are festive
alternatives to a traditional 'dress-up' type costume.

13 Days of Halloween Advent -- Day 13

{Cute pumpkin cookies purchased from Etsy -- StaceyMorganStudios}

Another cute Halloween-inspired treat.
I wish we could take credit for making these,
but they are from a favorite Etsy shoppe.

We hope you've enjoyed our 13 Days of Halloween Advent.
Here is a quick recap of our 2014 count-down:

13 Days of Halloween Advent -- Day 12

These place mats were so easy to make --
just a little felt, felt shapes, and a few embroidery floss stitches.
We made place mats last year,
and hope to make some Thanksgiving and Christmas-inspired
place mats later this month!

Dinner is served!

See you tomorrow -- Halloween Eve -- for our final day!

13 Days of Halloween -- Day 9

We recently went on a Disney trip.
Our dolls got in on the fun too --
you can read about some of our preps here, here, and  here.
We had a great trip...and like always, we were smitten
with all the delicious Disney baked goods!

When we got home,
we found a great Etsy shoppe called StaceyMorganStudios.
They have darling Disney foods for 18 inch doll play.
{A shoppe we will visit again for sure!}

13 Days of Halloween Advent -- Day 6

First attempt!

Day 6 -- Caramel apples

After seeing so many cute caramel apples in our local bakeries.
{And also seeing so many cute caramel apples made from clay.}
We decided to try some of our own.

We'd like to try it again.
Next time we'll make our caramel darker.
It was a fun first attempt,
and our dolls are not complaining one bit!

13 Days of Halloween Advent -- Day 4

Halloween Advent -- Day 4
Ghost cookies!

We wanted to make some kind of ghost treat.
This is what we came up with -- chocolate/fudge cookies with ghosts on top!

Costume Idea -- Number 5

Another fun costume idea?
Be an artist!
Making an artist apron is on our list of things to do,
but we think this makes a cute costume even without an apron.

simple jeans
simple white shirt
baret
and
paint accessories

13 Days of Halloween Advent -- Day 3

Day 3 -- Make polymer clay lollipops in Halloween colors.

We tried making these for the first time last October.
They were pretty fun to make once we got the hang of it.
Hoping to try to make brownies for the first time this weekend!

You can see our
2013 -- 13 Days of Halloween Advent recapped here.

we decided to do it again this year!  Starting on October 18th has you finishing

and some smaller ones for our beach cottage.

Costume Idea -- Number 3

It might be fun to be a genie.
Our favorite part of this outfit?
The pointed shoes!

Costume Idea -- Number 2

Costume idea -- Number 2
Dorothy!

It might be fun to dress up like Dorothy from the Wizard of Oz.
Simple blue gingham jumper and a white shirt trimmed in blue ric rac.
Complete the outfit with red sparkle shoes!

Having fun with boxes of old vintage costumes.
{Patterns found at eVintage Etsy Shoppe.}
We used these as part of our 2013 Halloween Advent.

Saturday, October 11, 2014

Costume Idea -- Number 1

It might be fun to be a witch!

We gathered all of the solid black clothing items we could find --
a black shirt, a black skirt, black tights, and black shoes.
Voila, a very simple witch costume!

The accessories --
The glitter mask is from a local doll shop.
The cape is actually an old dance skirt from our dance stash {size 4T}.
We refashioned it into a cape!

Laundry and Bathroom Update

We started blogging 17 months ago today!
Who knew that our bathroom would be our most popular post?
The highlights --
a the reversible shower curtain & a simple DIY sink
[made from a Target sink magnet and easy to find wood pieces].

The laundry room has also been viewed a lot -- a set was from OG.

In the photo above, you can see how the bathroom is right below the
laundry room...for plumbing purposes.

A close-up of the sink we made.

Thanks for looking in on the development of our house.

Costume ideas!?

"I'm having such a hard time trying to decide what to be for Halloween!"

Starting this coming weekend, we'll be posting 13 of our favorite costume ideas.
We have a few costumes in our doll collection,
but we'll also pull out some of our regular doll clothing
that we think would make great Halloween costumes with a few added accessories!

***

If you are excited for Halloween like we are, you can look at some
of our past Halloween posts in the links listed below.

You can find links to each day of the advent here.
Last year we even had a doll craft party that you can see here.

***
FYI {above photo} --
The mini water game and the Halloween outfit are from
the Georgell Doll Shoppe.
The clock was found at our favorite drugstore.
The little dolls are erasers from Sausalito, CA.
The mini clipboard, eiffel tower {a ring holder},
and gold frame are all from Michaels.
Mini books are from Barnes and Noble.

Adventure Trip

Don't be confused by the pyramid -
We are not in Egypt!

We are just hanging out {carefully} in the Legoland Hotel!

"Treasure code crackers!"
